Rescuers' Reunion at the Whisker Walk
2009
Sunday, June 7, 2009 (rain or
shine!)
11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Lancaster Fairground - Home of Bolton Fair
Route 117 - Seven Bridge Road
Lancaster, MA
Mark your calendars!
Please join us for the Rescuers' Reunion AT the 2009 Whisker Walk.
View our video, on YouTube, to see just how much fun that you, your
family, and your dog(s) will have!
Not only is the Whisker Walk an amazing event to experience with
your family and dog(s), but you must also participate in the
heartwarming and touching reunion.
The 2009 Rescuer’s Reunion Meet and Greet
us an opportunity to meet YOUR dog(s) foster family from Virginia
(VA), Tennessee (TN), and Puerto Rico. Our partner shelters and
foster families will be traveling a very long way to attend to meet
you and your dog(s)! Last year's reunion was an amazing part of the
Whisker Walk event. Many of our pets reconnected with littermates
and found each other! The foster families from VA, TN, and Puerto
Rico will be at the event all day to reunite with you and your dog(s).
You can’t miss it! In addition, our Shelter will provide adoptees
with a sticker that corresponds with the group you adopted. You can
write your pets adoption month and year on it and while walking
around the event, you just might bump into a littermate to your dog(s)!!!
It is a fun and exciting opportunity to reunite. Last year there were
many reunions!
Stay tuned to our
Shelter website (www.sterlingshelter.org) for more
information and details! You definitely do NOT want to miss this!!!
How can you help our pets and programs?
Create your very own custom
webpage to fundraise and collect pledges for the Whisker Walk.
Send emails to your
friends, family, and business associates – 100% of the money

Help prevent
heartworm disease
for your pets! |
VCA Animal Hospital Promotions Are Being
Continued Through June!
Our Shelter has a very close partnership
with the VCA Animal Hospitals and we LOVE that they help our
Shelter, as well as many other shelters nationally. We wanted to let
our supporters know about the great promotions they are running and
the
ideal way to SAVE money AND keep your pet's healthy!
Preventive Care Clinic:
Receive 50% OFF all prescribed vaccines when you purchase a health exam.
Having your pet examined at a
VCA Preventive Care Clinic
is a smart
idea. It is where your pet will receive four vital types of preventive
care:
- Vaccines. They are the best way to prevent life-threatening
infectious diseases and to prevent pain and suffering.
- Nutrition. Even just an extra pound or two can shorten your pet’s
life. Find out how to make smart nutritional choices that help
prevent obesity.
- Dental care. Bad breath is only the beginning. Dental disease can
lead to kidney, liver, and heart problems, as well as bone and tooth loss.
- Parasite Prevention. Heartworm in cats and dogs can be fatal. There
are many other serious diseases transmitted by parasites—year round. Learn how to fight back!

This is THE IDEAL time to discuss heartworm
prevention, as well as flea and tick prevention, for your DOG and CAT with your veterinarian. Heartworm
disease has been reported in all 50 states. Heartworm is transmitted
through mosquitoes and warmer weather brings mosquitoes. Spring is
here, so PLEASE learn more and discuss this with your veterinarian.
Preventative care is HIGHLY advised. Our Shelter
provides
Interceptor OR Sentinel to all pets, in our care, once
monthly. This is a once a month preventative. Interceptor or
Sentinel are effective, easy-to-administer and inexpensive. These
medications interrupt heartworm development before larvae and adult
worms reach the lungs and cause disease. When administered properly
and on a timely schedule, heartworm infection can be prevented.
This map shows particularly endemic areas based on the number of
cases reported by clinics. Heartworm has been reported ALL over New
England.
