Whisker Walk 2010...

... a HOWLING
good time!

The 2010 Whisker Walk was a wonderful success and the threatening weather couldn't stop us. It poured rain as we set up and just before the event started, the rain stopped and sky cleared. Thousands of people turned out with their dogs and there was so much for them to see, do and buy.

THANK YOU! A huge thank you to all those who participated, sponsored, attended, and supported the Whisker Walk 2010!!! The turnout was AMAZING! A tremendous thank you goes out to all the volunteers and staff that helped us at the event! Without you, we could have never have done what we did.

We would also like to thank our generous friends at Turtle Transit in Lancaster, MA who generously donated an advertising "wrap" for our Shelter van. On a WEEKLY basis, our Shelter van safely transports our dogs and puppies from the airport, Virginia, and Tennessee. Thanks to our friends at Turtle Transit, our pooches are traveling in major style.

Check out TD Bank's Affinity Membership Program and help our pets at the Shelter.

Open an account at TD Bank and they will make a contribution to Animal Shelter, Inc. of Sterling.
 TD Bank will make an annual contribution based on the average balance in all members’ accounts. Checking, savings, money market, CD and IRA accounts are all included in the program.

Contributions are calculated at 1/2% on checking balances and 1/4% on savings, CDs, Money Markets, and IRA balances. Members’ accounts are not affected in any way by this contribution. Your account balances are used to determine the level of contribution and are kept confidential.

Other Ways You Can Help People and Animals

With the warm weather coming, we ALL need to clean out the clothes we no longer wear (or want to wear). The Animal Shelter of Sterling is asking the community to donate old clothes, linens, small toys and/or bedding. Please note: we cannot accept appliances, furniture, or household goods. Donations may be be dropped off in the donation bin located at the top of our driveway—please do not leave items outside our boxes.

"As a BONUS, our Shelter will receive a percentage of money based on the weight of donations and we will be able to help others in need as well as the four legged needy in our Shelter.” states Leigh Grady, Executive Director.

So stop down any time and drop bagged items in the yellow bin at the top of our driveway ( next to the blue dumpster ).
