Hello,We wanted to wish everyone at the Sterling Shelter Happy Holidays
from Jetta (aka - Bowtie). We want to thank you for running such
a wonderful shelter and for giving us the opportunity to adopt such
a special puppy. We adopted Jetta on 11/19/05. Jetta is doing great
and she LOVES to play in the snow. She is the most amazing puppy
and everyone she meets wants to take her home. She's very well behaved,
great around children of all ages and loves giving doggie kisses.
She loves to play fetch and has lots and lots of new toys from Santa.
Attached is the Christmas card we sent out of our Jetta and we hope
you all have a wonderful new year. We'll send more photos soon.
Thank you again for helping us find her. Jennifer, Eli and Jetta

Hi my name is Joni LeGrand and we adopted "Jasmine" on
Dec. 20, 2005. Jasmine is doing wonderful! I have attached a picture.
Thanks so much for the great job that you do for these puppies.
Joni

Hi-My husband and I adopted the two most precious cats from your
shelter in August of 2004. One was Miller, who is orange and white.
His name was originally Nick, and was very loved by all the girls
at the Shelter. He is three years old. He loves his new home. Miller
is very affectionate, and is happy to be in a home that keeps him
indoors and loves him very much. He loves to caress people as they
walk by, and gives cute little "love bites" that do not
hurt at all! He is very patient with his rambunctious little sister,
Molly, who was only 13 weeks when we adopted her. She is the boss
of the house. And very talkative. She loves to play fetch with her
toys, and ALWAYS has to be the center of attention. We are so happy
with our little ones, and love them very, very much. Thank you so
much for recommending these two perfect angels, they are the perfect
pets!

Dear Staff, We just wanted to let you know that Katie a.k.a.(Happy)
boxer/whippit mix is doing wonderful. She was very quiet Friday
and Saturday, but Sunday she was acting like a PUPPY!!! We are so
grateful to have found a wonderful puppy. We lost our beloved "Buddy"
over the summer; she can't replace him, but, she sure brings a lot
of joy. Thanks so much for all your help in helping us find our
perfect "Katie".
The Adams Family
Ethan, Cathy, Rachel And Hannah P.S. "Henry" loves his
little sister too!!
Hi, We wanted to let you know that we adopted YoYo, now named Jax,
from the Sterling shelter. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts
for this wonderful pup =) We are forever greatful that he found
his way up north, and into our hearts =) We've had him for 2 days
now, and couldn't imagine being without him. He's housetrained now,
has awesome house manners, learning commands; come, sit, off, leave
it, wait, ok, speak, also learning hand signals for each of those.
He sits without command now, for leash on/off, and does same for
food/water dish. He taught himself paw, lol =) He picks up on routine
very easily! His puppy antics are too funny, doesn't fetch, but
tosses his toys around, lol. I have 14 yr old son, and they have
become the best of buds. I also have a 2 yr old son that Jax treats
ever so gently. Jax goes from bouncy energy fun with Tony (14) to
super sweet and gentle with Mikey (2yro). Jax is truly the perfect
pup =) He's such a love and cuddle bug =) We're so happy to have
him in our lives!
Thank you so much for sending him up this way =) Cindy, Tony, Mikey,
and Jax =)
Hi there, I wanted
to upate you on our 2 puppies, who both came from the Southside
SPCA and were adopted through Sterling Animal Shelter, MA. We adopted
Charlie in August, he's a hound mix and Reagan in October, she's
a shep mix. Charlie is a very shy puppy, but is so great with us!
They are both being trained which is helping Charlie to come out
of his shell. Reagan is just a love and a ball of energy! We just
adore them both and want to thank you for your efforts! I've attached
photos as well. Thanks!Elisha and Dave Hamburger
Good
Morning,
I just wanted to send you a picture of Charlie Manser. She was adopted
on 8/12/04 from the Shelter. She is doing great in her new home
and with house training. She has graduated from puppy school and
is currently in the beginner class. She is doing quite well in school.
I would like to say thank you so much for bringing her into our
loves. She is a wonderfull addition to our home.
Sincerely
Erich and Lisa Manser

Happy Holidays everyone!!! Here is the new
house, new dog (SEEAnna) and my big kid!!! We are truly blessed
this season. Michele and Sean
Hi,
I was just writing to tell you how much we love Ruby. She is a Doberman/Weimaraner
mix that we adopted back in April. She is a great dog that has changed
so much since we brought her home. She was very timid at first but
has really come into her own here. We are so happy to have her and
she is just great. I attached a current picture of her for you all
to see. Thanks for everything that you do there, Robin
Hi,
This is our little Bailey (7 +/- months old in ths picture taken
10/04), adopted from the shelter in July 2004. He's atypical border
collie ("gotta go here, gotta go there...") so he keeps
us busy. We went to obedience school and now he is a well mannered
boy. We couldn't love him more. Thank you for letting us participate
in saving the life of our handsome, lovable guy. Mary Schroeder

Greetings from Maggie May! We adopted Maggie at the end of September
and these last three months have been so much fun! She is a TERRIFIC
puppy who has made so much great progress. When we adopted her,
she was 12 weeks and 13 lbs. Today, she is 25 lbs with such long
legs that she looks like a deer. Maggie is a true woods dog. It
is her favorite place and we make at least three trips a week so
that she can run, sniff and explore the trails. Maggie also loves
the beach, but is not a huge fan of the water yet! It is probably
too cold! Also, she enjoys "playing" with her kitty brother,
Oscar, and sister, Maddy. We don't know how much they like playing
with her! :) She also loves going to her puppy training classes
one night a week. She is a busy little hound! We would like to thank
you for the work that you all do rescuing and finding homes for
these adorable, healthy and happy pups! We could not be more pleased
with our adoption process and have recommended your shelter to others
thinking of adopting a pup. We hope that you like the pictures of
Maggie! Isn't she the cutest? Happy Holidays! Rebecca, Jeff, Maggie,
Oscar and Maddy
Hello
and Merry Christmas to all of my friends at the Sterling Animal
Shelter. I really wanted to write to you sooner but I have been
having so much fun with my new family that I haven't had time. You
probably remember me as Lex, my new name is Sammy. I have a Mom
a Dad 2 brothers and a sister - My family is really great. They
are crate training me and I'm doing great. I bark and scratch the
door when I need to go out and I barely have any accidents at all
anymore. My mom and sister stay home with me all day and my brothers
get home at 2:30 and my dad gets home at 3:30 so I'm never lonely.
I have lots of toys and a soft warm bed. I really wanted to thank
all of you for taking care of me until my family came to get me,
I'll never forget your kindness. Merry Christmas! Love, Sammy
Hello
Staff....We adopted Shadow about a year and 3 months ago (9/03).
Needless to say, we are in love with this little man (and "Man"
is his nickname!). Our 13 year old girl "Pepper" died
only a few weeks before we adopted Shadow. We were so accustomed
to an old, and sweet lady-like dog....what a change we have in Shadow!
But a good change. He's all boy...loves to dig, run, and play in
the dirt...he certainly has kept us active! He goes on at least
3 or 4 long walks every day (no matter the weather)...and our neighborhood
is filled with many of his very own dog friends. He is one happy
boy...with a tail that never stops wagging. We were told he was
found alone on the side of a highway in Virginia, and he still is
very frightened of trucks or loud noises....but he comes running
to us to keep him safe whenever he's afraid. He's grown quite a
bit (weighing in at about 80 lbs) He was only 15 when he came here.
This note is long overdue, but we just wanted to thank you for caring
and bringing Shadow to your shelter. We're one big happy family.
Thanks for all the good you do. Bruce, Lynn & Shadow Reed
Hi, Here's some pictures of Nemo. He's doing great - Melissa
BTW, everyone asks where we got him, so I've been giving your shelter
tons of referrals!
Dear
Staff At Sterling Animal, I just want to e-mail you & say THANK
YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! On December 8th, we went there with
our children to look for possibly getting ourselves a dog. That's
when we met & fell in love with Rocky. Since bringing him home
he's become a loved member of our family. He completes & compliments
us totally. Thanks again for all the great work that you do &
here's a photo that we took.
My
boyfriend and I adopted a puppy at the end of July 2004. We are
very happy with our Sammy (his name was Cougar there). He has definately
developed a personality and is very entertaining. Sammy is healthy
and the last time we brought him to the vets he was a little over
30 lbs. I think he's finally beginning to grow into his legs. He
loves to curl up with us and watch tv. I have attached a few pictures
of him. I just wanted to drop a quick line about him. Kristin Heipler
and Don Contois
Here
is a picture of Maggie Bonz (Pirata), She has been with us for 10
months or so and as you can see has made herself quite at home since
we adopted her 4/02/04 She has to work every day except sunday.
She comes to the paint store with me and has to welcome customers.
(she is learning the ropes from my fathers dog Harley). She is a
gentle creature and amazes people with her mush ball ways. feel
ree to visit her any time, but you better bring a yummy...Kyle and
Becca Klockars
Dear
Sterling Animal Shelter: I took home Noah (Boliche) over 4 years
ago from your shelter and he has been so very happy in my home since
then. He was a SATO, and I am proud to know that he is now in a
loving home and off of the streets. As you can see from the picture
attached, he has pretty much made the house his own & tends
to sneak onto the bed when no one is looking - and he even sits
just right so that he does not mess up the pillows! I am SO thankful
to have found such a great pet and companion through your services,
and I encourage everyone to find their next pet at the Sterling
Animal Shelter! If I had the room, I would bring Noah home a friend,
but I think for now he is doing just fine.
Thank
you again, Shelby & Noah
Dear
Sterling shelter,
We adopted River, a german shepard/coon hound mix in July and hes
done nothing but make us fall in love with him since then. He has
taken obidence classes at Petco and did very well. Everyone loves
seeing how good he is, especially when it comes to getting a treat.
He just experienced his first halloween and absolutely loved it,
he kept wanting to go for walks and look at all the scariest houses.
He is very curious and extremely affectionate. Hes a wonderful addition
to our family, thank you so much. Sincerely, The Savary Family
This
is Sophie. We kept
the name she was given because she seemed so sweet and responsive
to her name already. Sophie was adopted from the Sterling Animal
Shelter in June 2003. Sophie loves her daddy and her kitty housemates.
As soon as the garage door opens, she is at the bottom of the stairs
wagging and "talking", waiting for her daddy to come in
from work. When we first met Sophie she was VERY scared and timid.
Obviously having a rough start at life, then rescued. She quickly
warmed up and although she still has some episodes of doggie panic
she is very comfortable in her home, being doted on by the entire
family. She loves to run in circles, inside and outside and is always
there for a cuddle too. With her new big back yard she has lots
of room to burn off any nervous energy (lots!) and when she's tired,
she just drops where she is as you can see in this picture. Sophie
is such a pretty girl, with a sweet disposition. Like a husky she
has honey/gray eyes and a pose that melts people hearts.

We
just wanted to send some pictures to show you how Prissy (now named
Lexi) is doing in her new home. After a few days of the "cold
shoulder" treatment from our current 12 year old dog, they
are now best friends. Lexi seems to love her new home and our kids
all love her. The vet visit went very well and hopefully he sent
the fax sheet as we requested he do. Anyway, thank you so much for
this wonderful gift for our kids. All is well here. The

Hi, We adopted "philipe" in January
of 2002, and we just love him. And just in case you're interested:
Brodie (as he has been named) has grown to be 35 lbs. He has passed
the Canine Good Citizen class and went on to Rally-O classes, a
kind of agility class. He spends a great deal of time with horses
and thinks he, too, is a horse. He's vivacious, loving and incredibly
sensitive. He enjoys daily hikes, and several miles of running whenever
possible-- He has boundless energy. He is an incredibly fast runner,
outrunning all his doggy friends (of which there are several). He
gets along with everyone- human, canine, feline, equine. He is fairly
submissive and tends to be anxious every fall. Brodie was Reiki
attuned over the summer which helped his anxiety, as does doses
of Rescue Remedy when we travel. He loves cheese, peanut butter
and carrots. -- and sometimes a sneaker. Thank you for this great
gift in our lives. We are honored to be in his care!

Hello
Attached are a couple of pictures of Riley, adopted 8/3/04 as Harold.
As you can see from the photos he is quite comfortable in his new
home. He was 12 pounds when my husband and I adopted him and he's
45 pounds now. One of his favorite things to do is sit in our yard
and just watch all of the birds and squirrels playing. As all puppies
are, he's been challenging at times, but just graduated from puppy
class and is coming along great! We adore him and even our cat doesn't
mind being chased by him every now and then. We are so happy to
have found your shelter and our baby there! You all do a wonderful
job and if we ever want more babies to add to our family, we will
definetly be coming to see you! Thanks for all that you do! Sue

Hi-
Just wanted to let you know that we adopted Porter (aka Pepper)
yesterday. He's very mellow and is slowly adjusting. He went to
work with my husband today. Because of his laid back attitude, he
probably will always get the privilege of going to work instead
of staying home alone and just getting a mid day walk. He's gotten
a couple of new toys and is going on a big shopping trip tonight
for bedding, a crate and anything else we can spoil him with. He
was so exhausted he slept through his first night without a peep.
We think he's still a little stressed by his new environments (home
& work) because he's not eating or drinking too much and sleeps
A LOT. So far he has spent must of his time sleeping or chewing
on a toy on my fleece - the black thing in the pictures. He's shown
great progress walking on the leash and going in and out of the
house - both things that must have been new to him. Hope you like
the pictures. We'll be in touch. Thanks again, we are both head
over heels for him. -heather
Hello,
We adopted Jessie (formerly know as Opal) on Sept. 24th. She was
only 8 lbs. and 8 weeks old. Today she is 27 lbs and almost 5 months
old. She loves my two girls as you can see! We don't know her breed
and I think that she is part Clifford (you know the Big Red Dog).
She is doing well and really keeping me busy. I was wondering if
any of her siblings sent in an email I know that she came from a
litter of 11. I would love to see what they look like too. Have
a safe and happy holiday and thank you for all the wonderful things
you are doing to save these pets!!
Janet Morris
Hello
Staff! We adopted Logan (previously Franklin) the second weekend
in May. He was just a little fuzzy baby then and now is growing
up so fast!! He knows how to sit, come, go to bed and shake! Hes
so smart! He loves to go swimming in the lake and take boat rides
with the whole family at sunset. He likes the wind in his hair!
Thank you for bringing him into our lives! The Watt Family (Sarah,
Melissa, Myszka and Dave)
This
is a picture of me taken with my new family over a year ago. I am
Piper, the red dog on the left. I now weigh over 80 pounds! I just
love having my sisters. I was so scared when I came up from Virginia.
But I don't think I could have a better life than I have. Come visit
me at Callahan Park in Framingham - I'll be the one running like
a maniac. But at home my nickname is Smoosh because someone forgot
to tell me that I'm not small like the others and not a lap dog!
Love Piper, Sasha, China and Whitney.

Hi, Just wanted to send along another one of my favorites.......
I'm just writing to send a picture of the puppy we adopted and a
follow up. We adopted Casey (formerly known as Iris) 2 weeks ago
and she is doing great. We are very happy to have her, and I have
a feeling she's happy to be here.
Dear
Staff, We wanted to let you know Mojo is doing great! The whole
Sterling Shelter experience has been wonderful! He is just awesome!
He is so easy going. We take him everywhere and he takes traveling
in stride. He is one very loved puppy! Thank you for rescuing him!
The Kovago Family.
To
the staff at Sterling Shelter, Thank you for giving us the chance
to love a dog again. We had to most lovable yellow lab for just
over ten years when she got very ill and died. I thought I could
never have another dog. That is until I came to your shelter. I
came to look, not even ready to adopt, and Peanut,"Ace"
as he was known to you, choose me. I didn't even take him that day,
which I guess is a miracle that he was still there the next day.
He has settled into our family like he was always here. THANK YOU!
ps. He has become an experienced camper. The Deberardinis Family
Just thought I'd drop
you a line to tell you how our new puppy Ginny (you called her Dallas)
is doing. She is adjusting well to her new surroundings she loves
her crate and all her new toys. She's still trying to figure out
her 2 new feline housemates, but we're progressing well. She's building
a good vocabulary and is working very hard on house training, she's
a fast learner and we're thrilled with her.
The Grovers
I
thought I would share with you a couple of pics of my dog that I
adopted from you guys. He is almost 11 months now and I got him
when he was 8
weeks. He is the best dog ever...except when gets himself into a
little mischief. Here are some pics of when he was 10 weeks and
some of him now... He loves the outdoors (I took him ice fishing)
and he loves to play with other dogs. He is spoiled Rotten. Hope
you enjoy them. His name is Bodey
Actually,
we adopted Gracie (cattle dog mix) one year ago in March, but close
enough! Gracie has become the star of our home! She is so smart
and full of mischief! We're hoping to get her into agility training
soon as she really needs to be challenged both mentally and physically.
Gracie has such personality, everyone falls in love with her. She
wags her tail constantly and attacks people with kisses! She's the
playful one of our four dogs, and can get any of them to play with
her. She loves to play tug-of-war and fetch. She's always making
us laugh with her antics and the way she quickly understands whatever
we tell her.
We just love her to pieces. Just thought you'd like to know how
she's doing. Here's a couple of recent photos of her. Laurie Donohue
Dear
Sterling Shelter staff: Two years ago we adopted Nita, who was an
older cat. We saw her picture and story on your web site. We wanted
to give her a good home. We already had a middle-aged kitty, Rudi,
who lost her companion a few months before. Nita and Rudi became
attached very quickly. Both were used to living with other companions.
Nita is doing well in retirement. She has found her favorite places
to sleep. We can usually find her on a shelf in the linen closet,
curled up on her favorite blanket, or lounging on our bed. She had
trouble jumping on the bed, so we've added a step stool for her
to make the climb up. She has adjusted to her home well. We enjoy
her quite alot. She talks often and lets us know when she is pleased.
We are very happy to have her as part of the family. Thank you for
all your assistance. You all do an excellent job! Sincerly, The
Fontaine family
Hi,
I just wanted to update you on Jenna (formerly known as Magenta)
who I adopted from your shelter last August 15. We have bonded very
well, she has grown very attached to me and me to her
.I
have included a couple of pictures of Jenna having fun at Hampton
Beach a few weeks ago
I hope you'll enjoy them
I
came to your shelter to look at some other dogs, but, as fate would
have it, Jenna was the one
..Thanks - Ron St. Michel

Newly re-named kittens Streak and Coco were adopted a mere 3 weeks
ago, and already we're all madly in love with each other. The kitties
fly around the house as one ball of fur, then fall asleep together.
Their favorite place is this salad bowl. The Lathrops, Groton, MA
Hello to everyone
at Sterling Animal Shelter! I just wanted to drop you a line and
let you know that our new pooch Mercedes is doing extremely well!
We adopted her from you about 2 weeks ago and now it's as if she
has always been a member of our family! She loves walking around
the Tufts Campus here in town, she loves chasing squirrels(!!!)
and she loves sleeping on my 7-year-old daughter's bed every night!
My daughter feels so protected by her! When we have to leave Mercedes
alone every once in awhile, she lays down on the windowsill of our
big front window to watch for us, and my neighbors have remarked
at what a pretty dog we have in our window! I have nothing but nice
things to say about your staff and your shelter, and I think you
should all be proud of yourselves for giving pets such as Mercedes
such excellent hope for a second chance! Thank you for your hard
and wonderful work, and I will continue to recommend your shelter
to everyone! Michelle Debatis - North Grafton, MA
Hello
Friends at Sterling Shelter - We wanted to write to let you know
how Gracie is doing. We adopted her in July & she has absolutely
changed our lives. She is very much a part of our family... in fact,
it is hard to imagine Life Before Gracie. She's very energetic,
she loves the beach (she has been to Martha's Vineyard twice), loves
her yard and loves to bother the cat. She recently graduated from
PetSmart's Puppy School with honors! Gracie was 8.8 lbs when we
adopted her and she is now 21 lbs. All she wants to do is play,
eat and snuggle (like her parents). Thank you for Gracie, and thank
you for being a wonderful, safe, caring place for pups who need
homes. We have referred several of our friends to your shelter,
and will continue to do so. Love, Laura, Eric and Gracie
To
all the wonderful staff....
Here is one of the Cocker Spaniel mixes we had adopted a few months
back. This was Chris A.K.A now Kobi. He's 9 months and a very wonderful
playful dog. He's extremely friendly towards everyone and loves
to run around. This summer we gave him his own pool and he would
get in it and lay right down in the water and stay there for hours.
He's the best!. Just wanted to e-mail you all and let you know he
loves his new home and we love him. A very happy ending for Kobi.
We'l keep you all updated in the upcoming months. Thanks alot!
- Kate-Lynn Major
We
adopted "Stephen" a beagle/hound mix about 3 weeks ago
from you. He was very shy in his pen with another puppy. He was
so sweet that we just had to have him. As we found out, he had come
from Virginia with 6 other siblings and he was the last one to be
adopted. We have since renamed him Tanner, after my husband's idol
Joe Montana. He has settled in quite nicely to our house. He loves
our two cats Rocky and Austin, but they still aren't so sure about
him. They prefer him sleeping and snoring away! All in all, it's
been a great adjustment into our home. He's not as shy and timid
as he was at the shelter. He can be very playful and frisky. He
loves to chase everything! Leaves blowing, squirrels, acorns, anything
that moves. He also loves to cuddle and be near people. Thank you
so much for taking such great care of him and the other animals
that come into your care. We tell everyone who asks about him that
we got him from you! Who knows, someday we may be back for another
friend! Here are some pictures of Tanner! Thanks again, Jennifer
and Adam Arakelian - Shirley, MA
Hello
friends, Just wanted to let you know that I am doing very well so
far! The food here is excellent and the lady knows how to play!!
I have my own "studio apartment" with a big bed that has
a kitty bed on it, a good cat perch (and there's a lot to look at
here), litter box, and plenty of water. I have not missed any of
my shots and I have been affectionate to the lady (she calls me
a prince!). I have met the resident DOG and I can fluff up very
big to scare her. I think she's a wimp. Nonetheless, I am keeping
my distance as I may never really like her. I haven't decided yet.
The kitten is OK, I don't mind her. She visits me sometimes and
I don't mind. The lady says she will make arrangements for me to
explore the house without having to worry about the dog tomorrow.
I think it will be interesting. Thanks for all of your wonderful
care while I was at Sterling . . . I think I will like it here!
Love, Hank
P.S.
The lady thinks the kitten, "Edith Ann," has grown since
Saturday!! I'd better make sure she knows I'm the boss of her .
. . . Edith Ann actually LIKES that dog and they play together.
What's with that??
Miranda
- 3 month old Gato rescued from Puerto Rico thinks she wants to
work on computer, she climbs up on the desk and sits in my lap while
i am working on it. She's to cute!
Hi
there. I adopted the last female chocolate lab in a litter of 7
you had a month ago. She was shy at first but is thriving in her
new home. She is the BEST dog ever. We've renamed her Jesse. Just
wanted to thank you for providing her and for your services. We're
all very happy. See picture.Melissa A. Tula
Dear
staff: We have attached a picture of the puppy we adopted last February.
She has become an important member of our family and gets a lot
of attention and love. It is hard to image what it would be like
without her. She is very people friendly and loves a lot of attention.
We named her "Partner" after a dog that my brother had
who she looks a lot like. Thank you for all you do for all these
animals that otherwise would no have a loving home. We certainly
appreciate it. From the Ramseys and "Partner" thank you.

to
the folks at sterling shelter...just a note to thank you and let
you know how string bean is doing. He joined our family a week before
Christmas and we have grown to love him. We've renamed him "Comet"
because we got him at Christmastime and after a book we''ve read.
He's adjusted well. He's one spoiled cat with a gigantic cat perch,
lots of play things and lots of love. Today he jumped into the hot
tub! He loves water! He went in the sink while the water was running!
Do you think he could be part fish? While we were on vacation, he
got into the plants and made a big mess! When we got home, there
was dirt everywhere. He escaped outside three times! Each time,
he hurried back in! He knows a good thing when he has it. One day
when my daughter was laying her pants on the floor, Comet was under
the bed. He jumped out and bit her pants! Now it has Comet's spit
on it! Dad was unsure about adding another member to our family.
Now, Dad loves Comet! He could charm anyone with his antics. Maybe
we'll be out to get Comet a friend sometime soon. Who knows? Thank
you for recommending him as a member of our family. Your institution
is wonderful and I would recommend your shelter to anyone looking
to save a cat or dog. The Lyons Family
Meet
Kiko Miranda!! She's a Siberian husky ... a sweet little girl! She's
a year and a half, and her old family didn't have time for her,
but she was raised with a little kid, so she's sweet as pie and
is getting along with her big bro (Irie) VERY well! She's energetic
and friendly and so smart... she was only paper trained before,
but learned the first day to use the doggie door to the pen out
back! I know I'm a huge dork, but I'm super excited!
HI
Staff! Attached are pics of Bailey in her new home with her big
brother, Gyp. I have already senta couple to Sandy at Southside
SPCA. FYI my vet also waived the 1st visit exam fee because Bailey
was adopted from a shelter. Keep up the great work. Will send more
pics as she grows. I figure I'd better get her trained really qick
as she is going to be a big girl and I prefer to be the Alpha dog!
:-) Pat
Hi
there :) I was brought up to Sterling from VA as a Homebound Hound
with my sisters in late march 2003. i was adopted by christa lajoie
in early april 2003. I am now a happy yearling with a fancy new
name - Askungen's Zachary Taylor-Made. I have been housebroken,
crate trained, and clicker trained. I even know some tricks now!
I am waiting for some better weather to start agility training to
help work out some of my energy. i still like to chew a lot, but
i'm working on that , lol. Here is a picture of me with my owner.
i'm sitting on my favorite perch in the house! thanks for helping
me find my forever home! Zach
This
is Struessel, now Roxanne. She is doing great, everyone loves her.
She is eating well, loves lounging in front of the fireplace and
loves to be petted and brushed. We will keep you updated. The Bradleys,

Hello,
We adopted Minnie on September 30th from your shelter. I'm told
she was rescued from the side of the road in Virginia in heat with
a few big dogs chasing her. I'm embarrassed to tell you how quickly
my husband and I fell in love with her. She's the sweetest, most
loving dog imaginable. I could just go on and on gushing over how
much we love Minnie. She's so friendly with everyone. I take her
once a week to visit my mom at a local nursing home and the residents
love her. Minnie likes to sleep in the bed with us and always wakes
me up in the morning like clockwork with a big ole slobbering kiss
telling me it's time to get up, feed her and take her out for a
walk. I'm enclosing some pictures of Minnie to show you how she's
doing. I'd say she's pretty happy being with us and we're thrilled
to have found her! Thank you for providing us the opportunity of
adopting her. Kim Perry
Dear South Side
SPCA, We adopted one of "Ranger Dave's" puppies that he
found in the State Forest last Spring. I wrote you a short while
after saying how much we were enjoying her, and to thank Ranger
Dave. I just wanted to give you an update. "Maizy" is
thriving up here in the North East! This weekend was our first big
storm, and apparently, Maizy is a snow dog! We got close to 2 feet,
and this morning, she ran straight out into it, over her head. The
photo here was taken during one of her short breaks from playing
with the kids. We have had many guesses along the way as to what
she was, but lately,
more and more people are saying Bearded Collie. As you can see from
the picture, she does seem to have a lot of Beardie in her. Our
kids absolutely adore her, as does everyone who meets her. Thank
you again for your fabulous work in saving these dogs! The Fitzsimmons
family
Hello
We adopted a lab mix puppy from you the week prior to Halloween.
We love him to pieces. He has the best temperment with our children
though, and he is such a mommy's boy. Here are some pictures if
you want to use us for your happy ending pages. Thanks for everything.

Hi,
Sterling! This is Bella, a german shepherd/husky/rotti mix we adopted
from the shelter on August 20, 2002. She is a year old now, and
this is a seasonal pic of her. Bella, being part husky, naturally
loves the snow. Therefore, the cold weather doesn't bother her.
In case you don't remember (or if others would like to hear), Bella
and her brothers were abandoned in the woods in central Mass. at
a very young age. When they were found, they were covered in sand
and didn't know how to eat properly. The 5 pups were introduced
to humans very slowly, and soon learned to love them. After being
spayed and neutered, the puppies were available for adoption. After
seeing them on the internet, our family came to sterling and adopted
Bella (who was the only girl!). Bella now lives a happy life and
gets walked every day. She actually loves going for walks so much
that she has earned the nickname 'Mrs. Walkies'. Of course, Bella
was a good girl again this year, so Santa Claus is bringing her
a toothbrush and beefy toothpaste! Again, I would like to thank
you all at Animal Shelter Inc. for saving so many animals. Without
you, we would not have our guardian angel. Happy Holidays Tom, Denise,
Carl, Cailin, Kellie, and Bella
Hi
to the Staff at Sterling Animal Shelter,

We came last Friday to donate food and raw hide to your shelter
in honor of Bailey, our puppy who was tragically killed. We had
a adopted her from you in June. While we were there we visited with
the puppies and one just clicked with us (Bethlehem now named Owen).
I was secretly hoping my husband would be ok with adopting another
puppy. Well Owen just looked at him and he fell in love. I have
attached some pictures of Owen with Nick our son and with my husband.
Owen is now an honorary member of the Gloucester Fire Department
and has made several visits with John. He is a wonderful puppy who
has the many of the great traits as our beloved Bailey. He is much
more independent and loves to explore. We have a very large yard
with lots of trails behind us and we have gone on several walks
as a family. Thank you for doing such great work! The Bell Family
Hi,
my wife & I were in this past Saturday and adopted Ella. Just
wanted to let you know, everything is ok, she seems to be adapting
to her new
surrounding very easily. Just a brief history as to what led us
to adopting. We very recently lost our first dog (Sasha) to cancer.
It was very sudden and caught us by surprise. We had to put her
down 12/5. My sister-in-law bought the Husky and found that it was
a little too much for her household (she already has another Husky
and a couple of cats that she had adopted). My wife and I were thinking
of getting another dog, so we took her. She was with us for about
4 months when Sasha got sick. After Sasha was gone Winnie (the Husky)
started acting up a bit, so we knew we needed to get her a friend,
to keep her company. So there's the history. We both found your
website easy to use and once we arrived to the shelter, found the
staff very friendly and helpful. I have to say, I was very impressed
with how clean your facilities are. All the puppies looked very
happy and it's too bad we couldn't have taken more than one. Ella
is doing great, she goes right into her crate at night, loves to
be around us and she's holding her own with Winnie when the play.
I did have a question, did you start training her? She hasn't had
any "accidents" and sleeps well in her crate. That's about
it, I just wanted to let you know how she was doing. She's a real
sweetheart, she is still a little shy at times but that seems to
be fading very quickly. Thanks again. Thanks so much! We loved seeing
Santa! Happy holidays, Tundra & Reggae Grace
Hi
Jenny and all of the staff at The Sterling Animal Shelter! We wanted
to update you on the pup that we adopted from you this past Thursday...his
name was Reilly, but was soon renamed Putter, before we even left
the shelter! I know he's only been with us for two days, but I wanted
to update you anyway and let you know that he is doing great! Despite
the snow, wind and frigid cold weather that we're having, he's been
a real trooper! He heads right out into the cold without looking
back, to take care of business in the area of housebreaking. Also,
I'm sure we mentioned our cat Golf Ball to you when we were there...they
are getting along really well. Golf Ball seems to really like him...they
play and wrestle and they actually even slept together today!!!
(and of course the kids absolutely adore him!!!) So far so good...we'll
send you some pictures when we get them developed. Thank you so
much to Jenny who took the time and energy to work with us when
we were looking for our dog. Thank you to Stacy who had helped my
husband and I when we visited the shelter the week earlier. You
were all so nice, professional and knowledgeable. We respect and
appreciate the time and care that you all appear to take when matching
a dog with a family...it's so important. Thank you for allowing
us to spend time with and also consider Aruba, despite the rough
start he has had...we hope that he is adopted by the right family
soon! Happy Holidays to all of you! We will be in touch again soon!
Love, Lisa, Al, Sammy, Reaghan, Golf Ball & Putter :)
Well
its been 4 days away from the shelter and daisy (tisha) is adjusting
very well. Keeping her in an 26" high pen while we are at work
doesn't contain her. We don't know how she gets out but she does.
Everyday she gets more and more full of life. I also don't know
how she sleeps so far under the blankets at night but again she
does..its hell to wake her up in the morning for her bathroom run,
She just lays there on her back yawning. she is chasing the cats
but we are training her slowly that they are part of the family
also..She has taken to both of us and not just one so that too is
a plus.
Hello,
Our family wanted to send you a quick note to thank you. We adopted
Brandy this past July from the homebound hounds program. She is
the best puppy we could have ever asked for! She's loveable and
affectionate.. heck, she even loves her "big" sister Scarlet
a 13 year old cat! Brandy just finished puppy class. She had a mini
reunion. One of the puppies there, Betsy, was not only adopted from
your shelter, but she was adopted on the same day, from the same
pen! It was a very happy reunion, and we have plans to set up play
date between the girls. She has added so much to our little family,
and brought nothing but joy to us. Thank you again,
Lynn Blanchard and family
To
everyone at the Sterling Shelter, I adopted Mildred about 4 weeks
ago. This is the pic you had posted at your website: I just wanted
to let you all know that she's now named Shadow and thriving with
me here in Buzzards Bay. She's a remarkably smart puppy, very affectionate
and loving, still a little bit of a trauma-dog (can't believe someone
left her in a dumpster!), and a true joy to be around. Here are
a couple recent pics: She looks great, no? Thank you so much for
all the wonderful work you're doing. And many, many thanks for Shadow!
Best, Marc Sandler

Dear Ms. Wyatt,
Nearly two weeks ago, we adopted two beautiful puppies from Sterling
Animal Shelter in Massachusetts. We understand that they travelled
from you folks who originally rescued them, and that they are celebrity
dogs since "Good Morning America" was filiming their journey
to Sterling. The two puppies are now named Morgan and Chatham, and
are brothers from a litter of 8 or 9 puppies who
travelled here. They will be wonderful members of our family, and
we promise to take great care of them. Thank you and your team for
all of the wonderful work you folks are doing down there. You are
saving lives, and there is nothing more rewarding than that.
Warm regards,
Todd Bidwell & Mark LiCalsi
